Story
To mark the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, I am cycling from Paris to London. 75 riders are participating, one each for the 75 units who fought in the battle and I shall be representing 41 Squadron RAF, the squadron I command and a unit which fought with great valour and great sacrifice, but ultimately great distinction.
The journey is 230 miles long and will take 4 days. On any road bike this would be a piece of cake but (and I genuinely failed to spot this before I signed up) we are riding on Brompton folding commuter bikes. Yes, I was surprised too. 230 miles on 14 inch diameter wheels...
My aim is to raise £1000 for the RAF Benevolent Fund, a charity which makes enormous contributions to the well-being of current and ex-serving RAF personnel, or their loved ones.
In recognition of this worthwhile cause, in recognition of three quarters of a century since The Few, or simply in recognition of the fact that I really should read the small print, please donate generously!
