In October of 2011 our colleague at the England & Wales Cricket Board, at just 29 years old and in the middle of planning her wedding, was diagnosed with breast cancer. As shocking as this was, she is just one of 47,000 women who are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in the UK. It is now the most common form of cancer and a staggering 1 in 8 women will develop the disease.

While our colleague bravely takes on chemotherapy, seven of us are training to run the Reading Half Marathon (13 miles/21 km) on April 1 in support of Against Breast Cancer.

Against Breast Cancer is dedicated to improving detection and increasing survival rates of breast cancer and has its own research unit at the University of Westminster. Against Breast Cancer receives no government funding and is solely reliant on donations.

While our objective is challenging (more so for some of us than others!), watching our colleague undertake her treatment with positivity, determination and courage is inspiration for us all.

Please show your support of us, our colleague and this great charity by giving generously. If you are kind enough to donate please ensure you gift aid it.

Thank you.
