A NEW ADVENTURE..........following the 'Loch Ness' marathon.......I've got the running bug and have been successful in achieving a place to run the Virgin Marathon in April for Beating Bowel Cancer. I am truly honored and proud that I will be running for a charity that is close to my heart.
As the majority of you will know, I'm one for having a 'Rebecca' moment where I will come up with a crazy idea of something to do......the recent one being to 'RUN' the Loch Ness marathon on Sunday 30th September. After completion of this, I was so emotionally overwelmed......the smell of deep heat and men rubbing vaseline in places that shouldn't be disclosed, the bagpipes at the beginning, the support from other runners, the pain experienced with the hills, to the finish line that bought tears to my eyes......a day to remember forever. Why would I not want to run another marathon with those feeling!
Furthermore, I would like to say a HUGE thank you to all my family and friends that have already sponsored me for running the Loch Ness marathon - your support means a great deal and without this, none of my acheivements would be possible.
My reasoning for choosing 'Beating Bowel Cancer' is that as a registered nurse that works on a gastroenterology ward, I have contact with patient's that are affected by this disease. I feel that it is time that I gave myself a goal and give something back into nursing by completing a challenge that the patient's I work with can benefit from with continued care and support.
Please donate anything you can, even if it's a £1.00 - it all counts and I am extremely grateful.
Running the Virgin Marathon is going to be a further huge challenge whereby my lifestyle will continue to change over the next few months, but hopefully it will be well worth it, especially with the support from all of you - my family and friends.
