Story

192 miles coast to coast, done! I completed the epic walk on Saturday 14 April. I still can't believe I've walked from one side of the country to the other, I set out alone but arrived with a whole host of new friends and memories. I will be laughing about the stories on this trip for the rest of my life. Cows, grouse, lambs, wainwright, ma and pa kettle, peat holes, bogs, hills, snow, hail, yha's, rambo dave's, pub lunches, log fires, northern welcomes, on the road again, up hills and down dales and an antisocial tennis group. A truly fabulous experience that I would never have imagined could be this rich.

Thank you to everyone that has donated so far to this amazing charity, we're almost at the £1,000 target!

We are fortunate to live in a privileged country, where every child is entitled to an education. For the majority of children in India this is most certainly not the case. For many, their only option is to start work, selling their wares, begging or worse. During a recent trip to Kerala I was inspired to do something to help improve the lives of some of the children I met. Kids in Need of Education (KINOE) have a mission to educate some of the poorest children in India and Nepal, to enable them to develop the skills they need to get a job or go on to higher education.

During the Easter holidays I will be walking Wainwrights Coast to Coast (East to West). 190 miles. I will carry my own kit. I will camp. I will cook my own food. This will be the longest distances I have ever walked. For my training I will be walking home once a week (Kingston to Peckham, 13 miles).

Giving just a few rupees to these children would not change their lives, and I suppose neither will this, but I hope that in a small way, it can help give some children access to stationery, text books, pens and pencils, items that we take for granted, but most importantly hope and the potential of a better future for them and their families.
