Story
On the 30th of September I will be taking part in the Great Scottish Run, running a half marathon for Mental Health UK.
Mental illness affects more people every year than cancer or heart disease. One in four of us in the UK will be affected by a mental health problem in any given year.
- Mental Health UK run over 400 services and have over 200 volunteer support groups in communities around the UK.
- Over 90,000 people rely on the organisation every year to help them get through crises, live independently and realise they are not alone.
- Last year, Mental Health UK's health information was accessed over 3.6 million times.
This is my first half marathon and I'm excited to be running for such a great charity. Any donation big or small will be greatly appreciated.
- £2 could pay for refreshments at a support group to welcome a new member to their first meeting.
- £30 could pay for Safeguarding training for the Coordinator of a new support group so they are able to protect their most vulnerable members.
- £50 could provide art materials to a support group, helping members relax, open up and build new friendships during art therapy sessions.
- 250 could pay for the running costs of a group for six months, giving members vital long-term reassurance of support.
