Hello Everyone,
Thank you for taking time to visit my Just Giving page. After finally working myself up to be fit enough to run the London Marathon, I have been lucky enough to secure a place in Team Starfish in conjunction with the Family Holiday Association. So on the 22nd April 2012, I will be attempting to complete the 26 mile Marathon through the streets of London!!!! Very Nervous!!!
Team Starfish works in conjunction with the Family Holiday Association which is the only National Charity dedicated to helping disadvantaged families access holidays. The charity helps to provide breaks away from home for economically and socially deprived children and their families. Typically the families are affected by severe financial hardship and with extra difficulties such as long term or terminal illness, violence or abuse, depression, disability or overcrowded and inadequate housing.
So the countdown has begun…
Living in Cyprus means I can be often found training in the sunshine on Limassol Sea Front and down the gym when the heat gets a bit much! I have always enjoyed keeping fit and my training has intensified since I have set my sights on running the Marathon. This is something I have never done before, but I love a challenge and I’m spurred on by the opportunity to raise funds for such a worth while cause. As a child I was lucky enough to go on a number of holidays with my family and I just took them for granted, but there are many families who never have this privilege.
So I am asking you, my friends, family and colleagues to help support me (both mentally and physically!!) in running the Marathon in April 2012. I will have the support of my TUI colleagues here to help to stop me giving into temptation (if you know me, once I start eating I can not stop!!). So please, please, please help support me in completing one of the biggest challenges in my life and in turn donate to such a fantastic charity.
