In sub-Saharan Africa, 24 million girls can't afford to go to school. If you educate a girl in Africa, she'll earn up to 25% more, reinvest 90% in her family and have fewer, healthier children. Please help me support Camfed International.
On Sunday 21st August 2011, I am going to set out on a solo walk of the West Highland Way in Scotland. I intend to do the 94 mile walk on my own in 5 days, 4 long days of 20 miles and a final shorter day. This is nothing compared with the distances some people are forced to walk simply to survive in Africa, even in the 21st century, but it will be a significant challenge for me. I want to make the most of my efforts by raising as much awareness and cash as I can for Camfed, which funds inspiring intiatives to enable girls to go to school and young women to get started in business.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
I've set my target for fund-raising at £200 for each day I will be walking and hope the knowledge of what it will mean to young women in Africa will keep me going through the darkest moments of my walk. I hope you will help me exceed this target!
