Story
Welcome to my cyclothon page! Now that I have discovered I can ride a whopping 4 miles to work I thought it only sensible that I take the obvious next step and tackle the 54 mile London to Brighton bike ride. Why walk when you can run first... Starting in Clapham Common and finishing (she hopes) by Brighton pier, I will be pedalling up hill and down dale with some friends on our own unofficial route through Sussex's finest country roads and hopefully grinning through the thigh burn to arrive by crook or hook on Brighton Beach.
En route I would absolutely love to raise some much-needed funds for The Genesis Appeal, the only charity in the UK entirely dedicated to the prevention of breast cancer. The charity is based in a wing of the Whythenshaw Hospital in South Manchester, the same hospital in which I was born and which two years ago treated my Mum for breast cancer. Thanks to Genesis my Mum is back leading a normal life. However, the centre aims to do more than care and treat those who suffer from this terrible disease. Currently one in ten women in the UK are diagnosed with breast cancer. Genesis want to make this none in ten.

"Breast cancer is one of the most devastating health problems of our time and after decades of research into new treatments, the disease continues to rise across the western world. Genesis provide a strategic programme of clinical
research, the UK's largest family history clinic, plus a training
centre for specialists in all breast cancer disciplines. We will promote breast screening and early diagnosis, and research new treatments to stop breast cancer in its early stages." http://www.genesisuk.org/
