Story
On the 25th April 2010 I hoped to take part in the Virgin London Marathon. But the Icelandics put pay to that with their erupting volcano, and instead I spent Marathon day in America with Reading Football Club!
So, instead, I've decided to take up the challange of running the New York Marathon on the 7th November 2010. Why not eh?!
I'm raising money for Kids (http://www.kids.org.uk). Kids is a UK charity that works in partnership with parents and carers to enable disabled children and young people develop their skills and abilities to fulfil their potential, hopes and aspirations.
Here are some examples of where the money goes:
£10 A Football for a London playground - KIDS runs four inclusive adventure playgrounds across London, which provide play facilities for Disabled children who have been turned away from other play provisions. Your gift will encourage the children to participate in active play, build their self confidence and encourage social interaction.
£75 Help a child to swim with a KIDS Befriender - KIDS’ befriending support is a flexible service used by families in a way that best enables the Disabled child to access leisure activities of their choosing. You can help KIDS achieve our aim to successfully include the Disabled child into a mainstream activity and build up their confidence and sense of independence.
£150 Help a child and their parents learn to sign with Makaton training - For most parents, having their child learn to talk is a momentous occasion. For children with speech delay this can be a frustrating and difficult time. Your gift will help train families in Makaton, a form of sign language, to ensure that lack of communication will not hinder the child’s development.
Visit their website to see the fantastic work being done that would not possible without charitable donations like yours. Thanks for your support, Becky
