Rebecca's Himalayan Trek and Tiger Conservation Experience

Himalayan trek and tiger conservation experience · 7 October 2017 to 19 October 2017 ·
Anyone who knows me, knows that I have a reputation for being a "crazy cat lady"! I love all cats, big or small, and I am so excited to be able to take part in this challenge in aid of my biggest love - cats!
The Cats Protection
I have been volunteering at the Arbroath and Carnoustie Cats Protection Branch now for four months. I absolutely love it - as many of you know. The team that work there are such an amazing group of people who all care so much for the cats and kittens they care for every day. I love helping out the cats and getting to spend time with these animals whilst they wait for their 'forever' homes.
Cats Protection is the UK's leading feline welfare charity. Over the last five years they have helped more than one million cats through their rehoming and neutering programmes. They rehome and reunite over 46,000 cats and kittens a year through their nationwide network of 29 adoption centres, over 250 volunteer-run branches and two homing centres.
Therefore, I have nominated all the funds I raise to go towards the Arbroath and Carnoustie branch!
The Challenge
On the 7th of October 2017 I will be travelling to India, spending 5 days in the Lesser Himalayan Range of Northern India reaching altitudes of 2842m, trekking for up to 14km (8-9 hours) a day (ahhhh!!!), and camping in the wilderness! Then I will spend 4 days at the Kanha National Park, which is located in Madhya Pradesh state, working on a range of activities and learning about the various efforts which are made to conserve the environment, especially for tigers.
Fundraising
I have many ideas in the pipeline for fundraising, so watch this space! I will be updating my Facebook and twitter all the time throughout my efforts. I have quite a challenge in front of me, not only raising the funds, but also upping my fitness levels to cope with the demands of the trek. However, with your support I feel confident I can reach my goal and at the same time raise some money for a charity close to my heart!
Please note that Cats protection have organised this event and I have paid to register.
