Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page in aid of Molar Pregnancy research. Molar Pregnancy is a rare form of cancer that few people have heard of, and as such receives little attention.

In April last year Warren and I suffered a second miscarriage whilst trying to start a family. After dealing with the loss of a baby we were then told that the pregnancy was a ‘Molar Pregnancy’ and that I would need to be referred to Charing Cross Hospital to under go 5 traumatic months of intensive chemotherapy treatment. Thanks to Professor Seckl and his dedicated team, I was given the all clear in September 2010.

With a 99% rate of survival, Molar Pregnancy is one of the most curable cancers, but there is still little knowledge of what causes it, the process of diagnosis is lengthy and it is not known when it is safe to stop monitoring patients post treatment. Professor Seckl's team are currently pioneering for special technology that would allow them to diagnose sooner, by establishing whether or not cells will remain benign or turn cancerous. The overall project will cost £2 million.

If you would like to donate to this fantastic cause, you can do so through JustGiving. It is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.

Fundraising events that we have undertaken so far...

On 4 February 2011 three of the partners at our firm (CMS Cameron McKenna), Martin Pennell, Andrew Walker and Mark Heighton went under the blade to raise money for Molar Pregnancy research. Martin shaved off his beard (noone in the office had seen Martin without a beard for over 25 years), Andrew his moustache (of over 30 years) and Mark his eyebrows (of over 40+ years)!! It was a fantastic effort which raised £4,675.

On 14 May 2011 we hosted a fundraising party at the Distillers in Smithfield Market. Over 150 people attended and many more took part in our spectactular prize draw. It was a huge success. We raised a superb £4,359 through event tickets, raffle tickets and generous donations via JustGiving.

On 24 September 2011 Warren's Auntie Kathy & her friend Jane, ran 8km round Windsor park in 23 degree heat to raise money for Molar Pregnancy Research. Auntie Kathy is 59 and had not run a race since she was at school! It was a fantastic effort which raised £550. The ladies definately deserved their medals.
