Everest Base Camp trek for Child's i Foundation
Dear All,
What a challenge! Trekking in the Himalayas to Everest Base Camp!
In April I’ll be trekking with Russel Brice's Himalayan Experiences Expedition for Child's i Foundation - www.childsifoundation.org/.
Every penny donated will make a huge difference for all these children - their present lives as well as their future.
Am heading off to Kathmandu on 17 April, and after a couple of acclimatising sightseeing days there will start hiking with another 9 hardy souls and trek for 10 days up to Everest Base Camp - 5,140 metres above sea level! Hopefully exempt from mountain sickness I will be able to explore Base Camp for a couple of days and do day hikes to get as close to Mt. Everest and Mt. Lhotse as possible. Leaving the serious climbers behind to climb Lhotse I will head back down to Kathmandu and return to the UK on 9 May.
Sounds straight forward doesn’t it?
I have stepped up my training by heading out to my local golf course at day break wearing hiking boots and heavy back pack, scaling the rolling hills in Surrey, as well as climbing the high peaks in the Lake District, - forgoing golf, several glasses of wine and other activities. Time will show if this is enough!
Now I come to you and the part you can play.
Please give whatever you can to Child's i Foundation through my Just Giving page.
At the end of the trip I will post photos of the successful trekkers and if you have the stomach for it, regale you with stories and even more photos!
THANK YOU!
Reidun
