Remembering Alice, Pen-Y-Fan climb · 6 October 2019

Sands supports anyone affected by the death of a baby, works in partnership with health professionals to try to ensure that bereaved parents and families receive the best possible care and funds research that could help to reduce the numbers of babies dying and families devastated by this tragedy.

Story

Today was the day. Sunday 6th October. The forecast led us to believe we’d have clear skies   It wasn’t  to be, but despite the inclement conditions we reached the summit. We are very nearly at our £1500 target  please make a donation and make our day.

HR Business Partners at Airbus (Filton) are doing a sponsored walk up Pen-y-Fan on Sunday 6th October.

Pen y Fan is the highest peak in south Wales, situated in the Brecon Beacons National Park. At 886 metres above sea-level, it is also the highest British peak south of Cadair Idris in Snowdonia.

Our dear colleague Odilia and her husband Edward suffered the most awful tragedy in January 2018, when their new born daughter Alice had life cruelly taken away from her. At their hour of need SANDS, Bristol, came to their rescue and provided essential care and support.

SANDS organises valuable monthly support groups for bereaved parents as well as various events throughout the year like remembrance services, flower drops and group activities. SANDS Bristol have also helped other friends and colleagues and nationally they provide a remarkable service.

On Sunday 6th October we will walk with our partners, families and dogs to the summit of our local mountain and be thankful for our good health and for the lives we are able to live. If we can raise funds to help other couples and families in their hour of need and raise awareness of this wonderful charity then we have done our bit.

Thank you for reading and please donate. Every penny and pound will make a difference.

Wish us luck and pray for good weather too.
