UPDATE 3/9/12 - Several things to let you know...On Friday March 2nd, we lost a great friend, artist and rugby supporter--Norm Jones. He fought a silent battle against lung cancer that spread to his spine. We all knew he was not in the best of health, but we did not know it was cancer nor the extent it had taken it's toll. The games at the KH will not be the same. But his spirit lives on in our memories and we celebrate his life the way he would have wanted us to...by cheering on Wales to a Grand Slam at 6 Nations! :) I've added a photo here of Norm's painting of WRU scoring a try back int he 90's. It hangs in my office at work. On a daily basis, the painting has given me strength when thinking about the players and the rugby...now it gives me another kind of strength and courage. In the fall, I'll be taking some of Norm's ashes to a rugby pitch in Wales. I'm not going to say which one because they may not give me "permission" to scatter them. But I will say, Norm will be very happy with the location.

UPDATE 3/1/2011 - HAPPY ST. DAVID'S DAY!! I have gotten the idea to help boost the fundraising by getting a new jersey and jersey sponsors....I thought this would take an awesome amount of negotiation and such--but I have amazing friends. One especially great friend in Jason Peterson from GoDigital Media Group. They've donated $1000.00 (approx 600 pound sterling) to the 10K challenge!!!! The donation was made directly to AICR's website and I've tallied it here as an offline donation. Jason--you are awesome!
So make sure to hit up my "sponsor" http://www.godigitalvod.com/

Jason--did I say thank you? probably *MUAH* thank you again!!!

I'm solidifying entries for my last 8 races...but I think the last one...it may be in London....yeah I said it...bring it!!!

UPDATE: 10-31-11 My first race in the 10x10K challenge will be the weSpark Cancer race through the Backlot of Universal Studios in LA. Here's a map of the course!

http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x431/lukecarson/UniversalBacklot-weSPARK.jpg

What started as a plan to get Kevin Hatch to the UK before cancer took its toll has turned into a labor of continuing love and rememberance of those who have fought and continue to fight against cancer.

The first challenge was the DragonRide in Wales, then came Edinburgh 1/2 marathon...now/next the goal is to complete 10 different 10K races over the next year. The goals are simple.

1) to raise £2000.00 , it's feasible and given our economic times not unreasonable. In fact if every person on my FB page game £2.00 the goal would be well past met!

2) to raise awareness and support of AICR (www.aicr.org.uk) and all they do to fund research around the world!

3) to remember those gone before and give love and support to those still fighting!
