Story
On the 16th June 2018, I lost my best friend as a result of her battle with Dementia. Even though you are aware of what is happening you do not prepare yourself for the loss and the impact it has.
My nan was my world and my mum and I had cared for her during difficult times. It was so painful to watch someone you love so much slip away. She continued to smile despite the challenges she faced and continued to make us proud. She battled for 3 years and fought as hard as she could. When she finally left us it left a huge whole. She was the centre of everything in our family and lives and we miss her every day.
Being Nan’s primary carer, I learned a lot about the cruelness of dementia. We lived it with her. And it was so hard. But I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat just to hear her voice or see her smile.
Since her passing I have felt lost and demotivated and feel like there is now a lack of purpose. But it’s not true. It’s time for me to make a difference . . . It’s time to beat dementia
Thank you for your ongoing support - we have raised over a 1000 GBP in the last 12 months, but this is the big one and your help is needed to get us there x
This one is for you nan x
