Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have decided to run the Great Manchester 10K for the Huntington's Disease Association (HDA) as part of the University of Manchester team. This is a fantastic charity which is particularly important to me as my Dad has recently been diagnosed with the disease. I really wanted to do something to support the HDA and try to raise awareness of the illness as it is quite rare and relatively unknown.

Huntington's Disease is a genetic disorder that damages cells in the brain in a way that is still poorly understood. It has a number of symptoms including involuntary movements, personality changes and difficulty with speech and swallowing. Symptoms usually develop after the age of 30, however, once present they get progressively worse overtime until full time care is required. As of yet, there is no cure for the disease.

I have posted a link to the HDA website where you can find out more information about the disease and the work they do to help those affected by the illness: http://hda.org.uk

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Any donations would be really, really appreciated and if you have any questions about the disease or the work HDA does then feel free to message me.
