4 years after walking the Yorkshire 3 Peaks I've decided to do something else for Macmillan Cancer Support and hike Scafell Pike, Skiddaw & Helvellyn in the Lake District over 36 hours in September 2019.  Just to make it interesting I'll also be running the Stafford 10k the day after the hiking finishes (what could possibly go wrong ?).

The decision to do something was quite a straightforward one. 

In September 2018 following a week of feeling quite unwell my wife was admitted to hospital where they discovered (in under 24 hours) Stage 3 Bowel cancer.  A tumour had completely blocked her bowel and she needed an emergency operation to remove it.  Those days completely changed not just her life but those around her in so many ways.  Fortunately the tumour was whole and had not spread within her body (only a few Lymph glands).  She is now close to completing the 6 months of Chemotherapy prescribed (as of April 19). 

Although she will not admit it she has dealt with the ordeal incredibly well given the hurdles placed in front of her.

We've seen at first hand the great work that Macmillan do for both patients and their families.  In these times of NHS budget cuts, raising money for organisations like Macmillan really does make a massive difference.  Any money you could spare to donate would be very much appreciated.
