John O'Groats to Lands End August 2009
The boys and I successfully completed the challenge, crossing the line at 3.30pm on Saturday 15th after 1032miles of cycling and 85 hours in the saddle.
Thanks for all your kind support and donations.
Myself and friends Eddie Brown and Justin Floyd have decided to ride the length of the Great Britain (1000miles) this summer as we thought it would be a fantastic personal challenge, a great way to see the UK, another excuse to wear lycra and also a worthwhile way to help others by raising enough money to buy at least 3 Shelter boxes. This is a local South West charity based in Cornwall, who work all year around to be ready to respond to natural disasters all over the world. Each box costs approximately £500 to put together and contains shelter, first aid, clothing, water purification and rations for approximately 10 people. For disaster victims who may have nothing, it can be the difference between life and death.
We are choosing to make life even more difficult by riding into the summer wind - even though it looks downhill on the map apparently it is easier going the other way!! Luckily we will be joined in Scotland by Ralph 'Slip stream' Underhill, who has promised to set the early pace and Dan '3 counties' Broadbent who is guiding us to Lands End from Bristol. We will be in Devon and Cornwall over the 13th, 14th August, finishing on the15th in Lands End, so any support would be welcome. So dust off your bikes and meet us along the way.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Many thanks for your support and sponsorship
