Ham Hill to Portland Bill 100K Mountain Bike Ride · 19 June 2006

St Margaret’s Hospice has been at the heart of Somerset’s community for over 40 years, delivering high quality, responsive and compassionate care to patients and their families facing a life-limiting illness.

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

This event is in memory of my late father in law Mick Jamieson, who sadly died on 1st June 2005.

We did it......

I am pleased to report the "MICK" 110k challenge" was completed by all 6 riders. As you may have noticed it has been a little hot of late and Sunday 16th was no exception at 29c. There were some cramps and riders feeling a bit sick at times but we all managed to make it to Portland Bill. There were 45 family and friends at the end to meet us. Medals were handed out from Di (Mick's wife) to all riders. This was an emotional time for everyone who knew  Mick.

I am pleased to announce that we exceeded our £1000 target and are well on are way to raisng £2000. A big thank you to all those who provided back up on the ride as well as the report we recieved from the fundraising team at St Margaret's Hospice. The biggest  thankyou goes to all of you that have sponsored us so far, Mick would have approved

MICK

He spent his last months being cared for by the wonderful staff at St Margarets Hospice, Yeovil.  I know Mick would have approved of us raising funds to help others in the future benefit from the same care as he received.

"The Green Monk Mountainbike Club" which consisits of myself and 5 other mountainbikers (all named above in team members), are cycling from Ham Hill in Somerset, through Yeovil, Thornford, Lillington, Batcombe, Cerne Abbas, Grimstone, Maiden Newton, Compton Vallence, Hardys Monument, upwey, Weymouth and finally reaching  Portland Bill in Dorset via a cliff edge desent.  This is a 100K  off road route using mostly bridleways, byways and cyclepaths. So far since May 1st this year, collectively over 150 hours of training has taken place. This will be well over 200 hours by the time of the event. This now has gone past 250 hours and two cases of sunstroke !

Both Ham Hill and Portland Bill were places Mick liked visiting. Mick also loved the outdoors and nature, he walked many of the bridleways, we will be cycling.

Please give generously we would love to reach or exceed our target of £1,000 which we hope would cover the net salary of a member of staff from the hospice for a month.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: St Margarets Somerset Hospice will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
