Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 15 April 2016, we lost our incredible daughter, Rhea, to cancer.
Rhea was diagnosed with a Metastatic Germ Cell Tumour shortly after her Second Birthday in 2014. Rhea fought this disease with amazing courage for two years, through three cycles of chemotherapy, brain surgery and radiotherapy to her brain. She took everything in her stride, barely complained and was a huge source of pride and inspiration to myself, our family and everyone who met her.
However, in March this year we found out that the cancer was continuing to spread and there were no more treatment options available. Rhea spent her last few weeks at home surrounded by family, friends and the things that she loved. Rhea died shortly after her Fourth birthday.
In Rhea's memory I am taking part in the Edinburgh Night Ride on 18/19 June 2016. This is a 50 mile cycle around Edinburgh starting in the early evening of Saturday 18 June and ending in the early hours of Sunday 19 June 2015 (which is Father's Day).
All the money I raise will go to CLIC Sargent, a charity which provides vital emotional, practical and financial support to young cancer patients and their families during and after treatment.
Over the last few years we have seen first hand how vital this work is. The help we received from CLIC Sargent Social Workers and Carers was invaluable. But we also saw just how important CLIC Sargent is to the other families of children receiving cancer treatment, especially the CLIC house over the road from the Sick Kids hospital. This allows families from outside Edinburgh to stay close to the hospital during treatment but in a non-hospital environment.
Supporting CLIC Sargent is very important to us and any donations you can make would be greatly appreciated .
