AngelmanUK is a United Kingdom based support group for those affected by the rare genetic condition Angelman Syndome (AS). A diagnosis of AS will have life changing consequences and we are there to help families cope. We also advise medical and care professionals dealing with this rare condition.

Story

We have recently discovered that a family member, my cousin's grandson Cameron, has been born with Angelman Syndrome and I wanted to do a little bit to help.

Angelman Syndrome is a rare genetic condition resulting in a chromosome disorder that causes severe learning disabilities. Many of those affected will require care throughout their life.

I'm running to raise money for ASSERT to raise awareness and funds for the UK charity that gives much needed support to families and individuals with this syndrome.

You can find out more about this condition at http://www.angelmanuk.org/

I have held off fund raising until now given I wanted to make sure I was definitely going to run! As many of you will know there was a pretty good chance I would get injured whilst training for it... Unfortunately this has been the case! However, I will be at the start line thanks to some recent trips to the physio and some taping of my knee :)

I am pretty certain this will be my one and only marathon so all donations to this worthy cause will be very welcome.

Given I seem to know quite a few people with some fairly respectable marathon times... any extra donations based on any targets to aim for may provide extra motivation on the way around :)

Thanks a lot.

Rich
