Fleet Half Marathon 2017 · 19 March 2017
Dear Friends and Family,
So, after successfully ignoring the constant nudging and considerable peer pressure, it transpires that some comedian has signed me up to run the Fleet Half Marathon on 19 March. As most will appreciate, I am not a natural athlete and running has never been high on my priorities list. Nor am I in peek conditioning as I enjoy my food and the occasional drink every now and then.
Having never ran more than 6 miles in my life, I have to be honest that I am not really keen (the thought of dragging this 14 stone, 40-year-old body around doesn't appeal), but all funds raised will be going to a worthy charity in the form of the for The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund (check it out: https://www.rafbf.org).
The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund(who have given RAF Odiham the opportunity to take part in this event) are an organisation that provide lots of help to serving and ex-servicemen and women across many aspects of their lives. They do a fantastic job and your donation will make a difference, no matter how big or small.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story, so if the thought of me suffering for 2 hours (ish) appeals, and if you feel you could have one less pint at the pub (average £4.50 (based on the south; other regions may vary) then consider donating that money to charity instead. Those few pounds spare change that you may have lying around will make a bid difference to somebody’s life.
Many thanks for all of your support.
