OCD Action's vision is of a society where Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is better understood and diagnosed quickly, where appropriate treatment options are open and accessible, where support and information are readily available and where nobody feels ashamed to ask for help.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm running my first half marathon on 9 October and am raising money for OCD Action, the national charity for people affected by OCD. This is a clinically recognised, debilitating disorder which affects around 1-2% of the population.

Many people now use the term “a bit OCD-ish” without understanding the onerous nature of the disorder in its severe form. People with OCD experience intensely negative, repetitive and intrusive thoughts, combined with a chronic feeling of doubt or danger (obsessions). In order to quell the thought or quieten the anxiety, they will often repeat an action, again and again (compulsions).

OCD action offers sufferers and their carers support, while also figthing to raise awareness of this condition and campaigning for more effective, widespread treatment.

So please dig deep and donate now. Thanks in advance for your support.

Richard
