Bike ride in aid of Multiple Sclerosis

Apologies for this direct approach, but as a friend / supplier / customer of Celloglas, i hoped i might win your support.

I am for my sins embarking upon a marathon bike ride from Lands End to John O'Groats in aid of MS research in early June.

It should take about 10 days or at my age slightly longer!

You may not know, but Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is the most common neurological condition among young adults in the UK, affecting approximately 100,000 people. It is possible for MS to occur at any age, but in most cases symptoms are first seen between the ages of 20 and 40. Women are almost twice as likely to develop MS as men. The symptoms of the condition are numerous and unpredictable and they affect each person differently. Some of the most common conditions include problems with mobility and balance, extreme pain, muscle spasms and muscle tightness. There is as yet no known cure, but research is progressing to fight this progressive and very dibilitating disease.

I have a personal experience of someone living with this desease. One of my Sales Managers at Celloglas, having been diagnosed at the age of 41, has been living with the desease for 2 years. She has been bravely fighting the impacts of the disease by having physiotherapy, daily injections ( NHS Funded ), oxygen therapy and private medication, funded by her. She still works full time and without these treatments this may not be possible. She has been an inspiration for us and has been providing advice for fellow sufferers she meets at the local therapy centre.

All proceeds from this charitable bike ride will be donated to the Berkshire MS Therapy Centre

I do hope you can see your way to making a donation.

If you can, please register on the web site: www.justgiving.com/Richard-Gillgrass-South-to-North

Many thanks
