Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Most of you will have heard me banging on about this for almost a year now but I have, perhaps foolishly, committed myself to a 1000 miles bike ride from Lands End to John O'Groats and after months of talking it's now time for action. The ride will commence on the 21st of September and will last for ten days, ending in the far North of Scotland on Wednesday the 30th. The ride will be completely unsupported with just me, my bike, a phone and a toothbrush.

As well as being a personal challege, I hope to raise a bit of money for a charity along the way. At the age of 22 I lost a very close friend to cancer and toward the end of his fight, he was cared for, supported and loved by an amazing group of people at a Care and Support centre called Dorothy House based just outside of Bradford and Avon in Wiltshire.

Dorothy House is a charity, who's services to the community are provided free of charge and with equal access to all. Their aim is to offer physical, psychological and social care to patients and their families facing life threatening illness, death or bereavement, who have specific problems which need their specialist skills. The hospice provides residential care to patients and their families who can not, for what ever reason, spent their last days at home or in hospital. To support a family for a week costs more than £4,000 and the charity needs to raise £7,000 a day just to keep it's doors open.

In visiting this page and reading my brief note, you have already done as much as I could ever ask of you. I have no expectation of donation, simply a hope that if you have a spare penny or two in these challenging times, you can throw it my way and make the pain in my legs (and other regions) that little bit more bearable.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
