Thanks for visiting my Just Giving page. I'm going to batter myself for a couple of hours on the half marathon to help Fairbridge. They believe in giving kids who society has given up on another chance. And they do that in truly creative ways, like taking kids out of depressed areas of the city and teaching them how to crew a tall ship, for example. I think that's inspiring.

The kids do, too.

So please drop us a couple of quid if you can, it really will help.

Here's some more information about Fairbridge...

Too many young people growing up in deprived areas lead narrow, fractured lives. Fairbridge in Scotland
exists to give these young people a fairer chance to succeed in life.

Based in three of the most disadvantaged areas in Scotland, every year Fairbridge supports over 700
young people on the margins of society to develop the confidence, motivation and skills they need to
reconnect with mainstream society. They work with young people, who are outside education, training
and employment, or at risk of dropping out; these are often the young people who other organisations
have found it difficult to engage, those that all too often, society has written-off and forgotten about.
The risk of ending up homeless, unemployed or with poor educational qualifications should not be a
lottery. The odds are heavily stacked against those experiencing multiple disadvantages.

Current estimates put the number of young people not in education, employment and training at over
32,000 within Scotland alone. These young people are in danger of chronic exclusion without the support
of organisations such as Fairbridge. You can help us to help them to make a positive contribution to
society in future.
