The ME Association campaigns hard to get ME recognised as a severe neurological illness. Our helpline provides essential information and support to adults and children who have ME/CFS, and to their families and carers. We also fund biomedical research into the physical nature and causes of ME/CFS.

Story

Thanks for visiting my Just Giving page. With your fantastic support I've now completed the 300 mile/480km bike ride from London to Brussels via Amsterdam in aid of the ME Association. The generosity of wonderful friends and colleagues means I've already raised more than £2,000, including Gift Aid, money which will help the ME Association continue its invaluable work. Although the ride is now over you can still donate for a few more weeks.

Many of you know that I embarked on this challenge for very personal reasons. My wife Rachel was diagnosed with ME in 2011, since when we’ve both been coming to terms with an illness which affects even the simple things in every day life.

The four day ride took me from London to Harwich, then from the Hook of Holland to Amsterdam, before heading to Breda and finishing in Brussels. We battled the wind and rain, cycled in sunshine, beside canals, past windmills and into cities. You can see my progress on Facebook and Twitter at @rjhazlewood #amazingbikeride.

I hope you’ll be able to give generously to this excellent cause. Every penny helps the ME Association support individuals and families living with chronic fatigue syndrome.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe and your money goes directly to the charity. And if you’re a UK taxpayer don’t forget to claim Gift Aid.

With huge thanks, Richard
