Trekking with Robbo to Kilimanjaro

Summit Kilimanjaro with Bryan Robson · 17 October 2013
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
To mark my 40th Birthday this year, I’m going to take the opportunity of this worthy challenge, trekking up Mount Kilimanjaro (17th - 23rd October 2013).
Mount Kilimanjaro is the tallest free standing mountain in the world. Located in Tanzania, the famous mountain stands at 5,895m and is the highest point on the African continent. During the 10-day trip, i will trek for seven days along the picturesque Rongai Route through farmland, rainforest and desert before reaching the breath-taking summit of Uhuru Peak. During the trek I will experience extremities of temperature ranging from tropical to a potential -30/40 degrees.
I’m very excited to have this chance to take part in England's Captain ‘Marvel’ and Manchester United ‘Great’ Bryan Robson’s Trek for the MU Foundation. A charity that does great work in support of (Unicef, The Christie & Francis House).
This continues my interest in trying to make a difference to the lives of young people and follows on from last years participation in the Worlds Highest Gig trek by the Music4Children charity, climbing Mera Peak, Himalaya (6,500metres) and then running subsequent Grooveschool DJ workshops in Kathmandu and the surrounding area. Raising the amount to complete the charities orphanage in Dhulikhel, east of Kathmandu
The trek will be televised by MUTV. All participants will receive a training day at Carrington and a hero’s return on the pitch after the trek has been completed.
There is ample opportunity for business’ to be seen as sponsors during this time.
Please pass this information on if there is someone with a business who may be interested.
While the trek is classed as an extreme challenge it is not technical and is therefore achievable for anyone with a moderate level of fitness. The biggest danger is altitude sickness and most people who live at sea level will experience the effects to some extent. We will have a UK trek leader and a UK doctor with us on the trek, as well as a local support team who will provide food, accommodation and drinking water for the team.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep, donate now, it will make a difference.
Massive thanks
