Hi.Thankyou for taking the time to visit my page.

My name is Richard Opperman a Multi- Endurance athlete Fitness Instructor / Personnel Trainer from The Basingstoke Country Hotel in Hook in Hampshire United Kingdom.

Im taking on a challenge by running a marathon a month throughout 2010 to help raise money for research into cancer,a disease which has taken the lives of six of my family members.

I have lost my brother, father, uncle, couzin, granny and grandpa to cancer.I am now determined to help others battle the disease by raising money for charities including Leukemmia & Lymphoma Research.

I have completed the first of my 12 marathons in Gloucestershire on the 24 January 2010.My brother was particularly young when he lost his life to cancer at age of 22.

I want to raise funds for Leukemmia and Lymphoma Research to help them in their fightagainst blood cancers so that families in the future can be spared the loss that I have had to endure.

The marathons are only a warm up for me,as I will face an even bigger challenge in 2011 when I cycle around the uk up the west coast, to John o Groates up north of Scotland down the east side of the country, then from hampshire through France,Spain through Africa and back to my hometown of East London in South Africa a distance of 18500 miles about 30 000km.

I have always placed great importance in exercise and fitness and hope that my endevours over the next two years will not only raise lots of money for a worthwhile cause but will also inspire the youth of today to get out there and enjoy being healthy and fit.

My running portfolio consists of 90 whole marathons,30 ultra marathons, numerous half marathons, triathlons and 4 Iron-Man triathlons.

To help me reach my goal of £ 10 000 for Leukemmia & Lymphoma Research and to find out more about my marathons and cycling challenge - DISCOVER YOURSELF - visit my online page www.justgiving.com / Richard Opperman
