Story

HI All,

London Marathon 25th April 2010

What an amazing day, I completed the race in 3hrs 47 mins, totally exhausted at the end but I enjoyed every minute, the support along the way was unbelievable.

Started off really well, reached the half way mark in 1 hr 50 mins, saw my family and friends at the cheering point at 19 miles at Canary Wharf which gave me a real lift. From mile 20 it was hard, I was struggling, then I got sight of the Gerkhin and it lifted me as I knew there was not much further to go. The supporters on the track side at this point wre absolutely fantastc it was like a huge hand pushing me gently along, they were caliing out my name every couple of meters, driving me on. I wanted to stop and walk but somehow kept pushing on til the end, the sun came out, it got quite warm but Big Ben was in sight, less than 2 miles to go, adrenalin pumping, nearly there, floated along to the finish, bit of a haze to be honest but what a feeling crossing the line, job done.

I had been told beforehand what an amazing experience to expect, the descriptions were far short of what it actually turned out to be, truly amazing, thank you to the people of London and all the visitors who lined the route from start to finish, you were a massive kick up the bum!

People asked me afterwards if I had seen any celebs, yes i said, I saw 36,999 celebs, all worthy of a mention, all putting themselves through the pain to raise money for the causes they believe in.

Thank you to all my supporters and my shipmates,  we have raised almost 2,000 pounds which will go to such a deserving charity, can't wait until next year!!!
