Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Since a life threatening cardiac event 18 months ago I have wanted to blend the benefits of exercise with fund raising endeavours for selected charities through my employer. The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is a rugged, mountain trek over a variety of terrain in The Yorkshire Dales National Park taking on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, is 24-miles long, includes 5,200ft of ascent and should be completed in under 12 hours.
The Coram story began more than 275 years ago when the charity was established by Thomas Coram as the Foundling Hospital, London's first home for babies whose mothers were unable to care for them.
The Thomas Coram Foundation for Children, today known as Coram, developed new approaches to childcare and education, informed by developments in child psychiatry which highlighted the importance of children’s emotional wellbeing and need for secure family placement.
Coram provides help to vulnerable children and young people in overcoming trauma and poverty and to live healthy and happy lives and also provides consultancy to local authorities and other organisations for service improvement, needs assessment, research and evaluation. They are a strategic partner of the Department for Education (DfE) and were involved in the development of the Government’s National Adoption Action Plan aimed at speeding up adoption.
Whatever you donate, you'll be helping Coram make a positive change to the lives of the UK's most vulnerable children.
