Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 25th April I ran the London Marathon in 5 hours 17 minutes and 6 seconds. A new "Personal Best" for the Marathon. I really enjoyed the experience. The atmosphere was fantastic - there was lots of music and incredibly enthusiastic crowds. I started off running 11 minute miles which seemed ok and cruised past the Angel Of The North at a mile and a half but at 9 miles things got a bit tricky. I started to feel really tired and got overtaken by a somewhat over enthusiastic Uncle Bulgaria.

I got through that ok and then disaster struck! The fuel station had run out of lucozade sport so in need of carbohydrate I had to try and "hunter/ gather" sweets off children in the crowd. At 15 miles I hurt my calf sidestepping someone a la Jason Robinson trying to overtake them. I saw  my friends Chris and Rosie which helped me through.

As the race went on I thought I was speeding up - the clock said otherwise. The last couple of miles were fairly uncomfortable and I felt quite sick. But I got through and I did it. Bring on the next one.

I ran the Virgin London Marathon for Autistica. Autism is a subject I really care about. People with Autism can have substantial difficulties with communication, relationship building, and understanding the world around them. It affects half a million people in the UK.

As you may know I have got two fantastic children. My son who is ten has high functioning autism. He is a lovely, friendly boy who enjoys Basketball, Tang Soo Do, and playing the keyboard.

I feel very blessed to have two wonderful kids. However we have needed a lot of help along the way. With this in mind I ran the London Marathon for Autistica.

Massive thanks to everyone who has supported me through this with sponsorship and encouragement. It has really helped.
