Story
<p class="nospacing" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; color: black; font-family: Arial;">On the 16 June, I will be taking on the </span><strong><span style="font-size: 10pt; color: #00b050; font-family: Arial;">Yorkshire Three Peaks Challeng</span></strong><strong style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; color: #00b050; font-family: Arial;">e</span></strong><strong style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; color: black; font-family: Arial;"> </span></strong><span style="font-size: 10pt; color: black; font-family: Arial;">along with a number of my colleagues from Michael Page, supporting our charity partner </span><strong><span style="font-size: 10pt; color: #00b050; font-family: Arial;">Macmillan Cancer Support.</span></strong><strong></strong></p>
<p class="nospacing" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 11.5pt; font-family: Arial;"> </span></p>
<p class="nospacing" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; color: black; font-family: Arial;">This will be Michael Page’s fourth annual trip to Yorkshire, enduring the 25 mile hike across the three tallest peaks in the Yorkshire Dales within 12 hours. Last year we raised over £43k for Macmillan Cancer Support and we saw 89 members of staff take part.</span></p>
<p class="nospacing" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 11.5pt; color: black; font-family: Arial;"> </span></p>
<p class="nospacing" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; color: black; font-family: Arial;">On a personal level, this will be my second time of tackling the three peaks. I previously took part in 2010, raising money for GOSH, the experience nearly killed me, and I have bitter memories of my knees failing at the 3rd peak - having to hobble to the finish line on sticks. However Macmillan is such a great cause - I have been convinced to face my demon once again. I appreciate in today's austere times, there are lots of requests from a smaller pool of funds, and so to help the sponsorship I have opted to put more pressure on myself by attempting to get around as quickly as I can - so therefore I will be running/walking... hobbling and crawling as quick as I can in an attempt to get round in under 7 and half hours. The course is a 25 mile circular challenge, the Three Peaks start and finishes at Horton-in-Ribblesdale, and cover the three highest peaks in Yorkshire - Pen-y-ghent (691m), Whernside (728m), and Ingleborough (723m). From the comfort of a sofa, or jogging along the South Downs - it seems a great idea … <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>but trust me it feels different in a howling gail, half way between the foot and summit of the peak ahead, at this point the idea seems ridiculous, you question your sanity .. .and then you remember why your doing it and the great cause in question. Your sponsorship, and raising money for Macmillan is what then makes you dig deep, and crack on.</span></p>

<p class="nospacing" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; color: black; font-family: Arial;">The money raised from this event will go towards our two year goal of funding four Macmillan Cancer Nurse Specialists, supporting and treating hundreds more cancer patients and their families across the UK. </span></p>
<p class="nospacing" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 11.5pt; color: black; font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-size: 10.0pt;"> </span></p>
<p class="nospacing" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; color: black; font-family: Arial;">Together we will make a difference.<br></span><strong style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: 11.5pt; color: #00b050; font-family: Arial;"><br></span></strong><strong><span style="font-weight: normal; font-size: 10pt; color: black; font-family: Arial;">I must raise a minimum of £300. At least 80% of this money will benefit Macmillan Cancer Support, the balance being spent on the costs of the challenge. 100% of any sum raised over £300 will benefit Macmillan Cancer Support.</span></strong></p>
