Story
Last year it was the "Lakes 24 in 24", the year before that it was the "Welsh 3000's", so what could I do this year to risk life and limb and help raise vital funds for Credit Suisse's charity of the year: St Giles Trust? Easy. Trek for 6 days and summit the highest mountains in Albania, Macedonia (Mount Korab - 2751m), Kosovo (Mount Gjeravica - 2656m) and Montenegro (Mount Zla Kolata - 2534m).
This (fortunately) is not to be done in 24 hours - that might be pushing it slightly - but does involve a week of hiking and scrambling and not much chance of a warm bed, hot shower or double espresso along the way.
But as always, the aim is to raise awareness and money for a worthwhile cause and this year it is for St Giles Trust; a charity who aim to empower young people to stay safe and make positive choices for their futures.
50,000 children in the UK are exploited by gangs every year and St Giles Trust do fantastic work to educate young people on the dangers of gangs, exploitation and knife crime.
Support from Credit Suisse in 2019 will enable St Giles Trust
to deliver 1,600 school workshops to over 100,000 children and young people on the dangers of gangs, knife crime and exploitation. The sessions will be delivered by facilitators who have lived experience of these issues and can provide credible, hard-hitting accounts of the realities of them.
