Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have started this page to provide an accessible way for people  who are unable to attend Richard's funeral but would like to honour him through donations to the charity that his family has chosen.

Richard died at the end of June 2013, whilst on  a week long hiking holiday. He was killed instantly when he slipped hundreds of feet whilst hiking with a friend in the Austrian Alps. The Red Cross provided  unstinting help and support following the accident and therefore Fiona has requested donations to the Red Cross in lieu of flowers.

I have such enormous affection for Richard, he was one of the people from our Cranfield MBA that I treasure most highly.  Those of you who were in a learning team with him will remember he was enormous fun,  always smiling and joking but defending his opinions staunchly and taking no prisoners if you disagreed with him, but with that northern charm and cheeky grin that meant he got away with it!

Whilst on the MBA he met Fiona Fu and they were married soon after. Richard told me on his wedding day that when he saw Fiona walk down the aisle he knew that he had found the most beautiful woman in the world  and he couldn't believe she had agreed to marry him. They went onto have two beautiful children Natalie and Jake.

Richard and I lost touch for years, as we both disappeared into the world of work in various countries, which I'm sure many of you fellow MBA's will identify with.

But Richard got back in touch with me a few weeks ago and I was so excited to catch up again and get all his news. To my great regret we didn't get around to getting together before his holiday, one always imagine one has so much time left.....

I will be attending his funeral on Bolton on Friday but I know there are many of you with fond memories of Richard who would like to pay your respects but are unable to attend the funeral so I would like to invite you to make a donation instead through this page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
