Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
I am taking part in the 2005 London Triathlon on Sunday 7th August. This year I have decided to attempt the Olympic distance for the first time, which involves a swim of 1.5km, followed by a 40km bike ride before finishing with a 10km run. It's during the run that you begin to doubt your sanity. The worst part however, is that I have been allotted a start time of 06:30! At least I will be able to verify that such a time does indeed exist on a Sunday morning. Should you feel the need to support me in person, the bike route will take me from Docklands through Parliament Square, which I will reach at around 07:45 if all goes well.
Since I will be working a good deal harder than I usually do on a Sunday morning, I thought that it would be an idea if I could raise some money for a good cause. I would therefore be extremely grateful if you would donate anything you can afford to my chosen charity, which is the Parkinson's Disease Society.
The Parkinson's Disease Society is a registered charity and was established in 1969. They provide support, advice and information to people with Parkinson's, their carers, families and friends, and to health and social services professionals involved in management and care.
Each year the Society spends more than £2 million on funding research into the cause, cure and prevention of Parkinson's, and improvements in available treatments. The Society also develops models of good practice in service provision, such as Parkinson's Disease Nurse Specialists and respite care, and campaigns for changes that will improve the lives of people affected by Parkinson's. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Parkinson's Disease Society will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So please sponsor me now! Many thanks for your support. Richard.
