Saving Lives Through Your Support. Each life-saving mission costs £3,500 and on average, we are called to at least five emergencies everyday. It is only thanks to the generosity of the communities that we serve that we are able keep the Air Ambulance flying and saving lives.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit Rich's JustGiving page.

His family has decieded that if people wish to make a donation in memory of Rich, then the following three charities would be approporate.

Hampshire and the Isle of Wight Air Ambulance

The Queen Alexandra Hospital Critical Care unit Motomed fund. The Motomed is a special bike that can be used while people are in bed, from the earliest point in their stay at hospital. This will support early rehabilitation and the Motomed has been shown to improve patient's strength, ability to walk and feeling of wellbeing. It is a fantastic and innovative piece of equipment that would help staff offer patients even earlier rehabilitation than they already get.

Hampshire Constabulary Sports and Social fund. Money raised will go towards a police gym in Southampton, where Rich served.

Richard Phillips-Schofield, 33, crashed at the Mountbatten Centre velodrome in Portsmouth. Sadily he died a few days later in hospital due to his injuries.

In the statement, his family said they had been "overwhelmed by the love and support shown by Richard's friends, colleagues, community and fellow cyclists who have been making contact. We were and always will be extremely proud of Rich, of what he achieved in his career and all of his personal and sporting achievements. He was a naturally gifted sportsman, and his great passion in life was for cycling, at which he was exceptional. Even more, we were proud of the man that he was."

PC Phillips-Schofield was a response officer for Hampshire Constabulary, serving his full 10 year career in Southampton.
