Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As some of you may be aware, I will be embarking once again on a mission to deliver desperately needed aid to underprivileged children in Moldova/Transnistria, on behalf of the CWU Humanitarian Aid (CWUHA).

CWUHA is a British based registered charity formed over 15 years ago by Postal and Telecom workers whose sole purpose is to help needy children mainly from the former Soviet Union satellite countries. We attempt to do this by various means, mainly by delivering directly, much needed Humanitarian Aid.  Using the charities vehicles plus BT and Post Office vehicles loaned to us free of charge, the charity have sent 32 convoys delivering over 2,000 tonnes of aid to unfortunate children in Bosnia, Romania, Albania, Bulgaria, Ukraine and Moldova/Transnistria.
The next convoy departs on 3rd September 2010, of which I am one of the drivers. This convoy will deliver desperately needed material aid to hospitals, orphanages and families in Moldova/Transnistria where rural people still live a peasant existence, and the country has the unwanted honour of being the poorest in Europe . Each day a child under the age of seven is abandoned in Moldova as their parents migrate abroad seeking better paid work and prospects. Youngsters left alone because their parents work abroad have swelled the ranks of orphanages by 10% in recent years and also left them rich pickings for the traffickers.

The money raised will be used to purchase vital aid for the children. This includes food, clothing and toys. I also have a wish list that will be posted shortly so if you are to donate items rather than money then this will be just as helpful.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Without your support the CWUHA would not be able to carry out their crucial work. Please help me to help these children.

Thanks

Ricki
