Hi, this year i am entering the Lightwater Laike charity cycle race, the charity which will benefit is the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. The service is run completely by donations and costs £7200 a day to run.
Being a cyclist who rides mainly offroad i often find myself in remote places where the YAA would be the only emergency service able to help if i was to have an accident. I know of a few people who needed the Air Ambulance to get them to hospital following accidents whilst out on the hills.
I aim to raise £200, i came to this amount as it would keep the Air Ambulance airbourne for 40 mins which roughly the time it would take me to get to the nearest hospital from my home. If you ever need to use the service you will be glad to know it would take a lot less in the Air Ambulance!
I'm sure you'll agree this is a valuble service and i hope you can rub together a few coppers to sponsor me, it might help for you to know that i will suffer about 1 3/4 of lung busting pain for the cause.
