**Update - Rita has had her operation and is now in foster care**
We are pleased to tell you that Rita has had her operation and it was a success. She had the operation on Friday afternoon and stayed at the vet's over the weekend under observation. By Saturday she was eating well and even able to bear weight on the affected leg. She came back to our Godmanchester Centre yesterday and has now gone in to a foster home where she will be in recovery for at least six weeks. We have had offers to give Rita a home once she is well enough which is fantastic.
**Appeal Update - Target Reached - Thank you!**
We have been overwhelmed by the response from all of our supporters, old and new, today. Thank you so much for your incredible generosity! Any further donations received will go towards sick and injured animals that come in to our care in the future. Rita's operation is tomorrow so we will update you on her progress on Monday.

On Monday 14th May, a member of the public found a little black and white dog on the side of the road. She was whimpering and terrified, and in terrible pain. The poor dog was unable to walk, and had clearly been hit by a car.
The little dog, who we have named Rita, was brought to our Godmanchester Centre where she underwent a thorough examination and X-rays by veterinary staff. The X-rays have revealed that she has sustained a serious fracture to the bones in her pelvis, very close to her left hip. Without a major operation the bone will move which could cause nerve damage and further problems such as impaired use of her hind leg, bladder and bowel.
It is clear that if we don’t operate as soon as possible, Rita's future welfare could be compromised.
Whilst we do have funding for major operations, our resources are very limited. The total cost of Rita’s operation and aftercare is going to be £5,000. To ensure the future of Rita and others like her, we urgently need donations from our supporters to help us fund the operation.
If you can help Rita, please donate today. Or you can donate £3 by texting RITA to 70300. We've got a lot to raise in a short space of time, so please share Rita's Appeal with your friends and family.
Rita has been scheduled an appointment at a specialist veterinary surgery on Friday 18th May. After the operation she will need six weeks cage rest in a foster home until she fully recovers and is ready to find her forever family.
We will make sure to keep you updated of Rita’s progress. I do hope that you will be able to make a donation today – a gift of any size will be of great help.
Thank you from everyone at Wood Green.
