Story
Thanks for visiting my JustGiving Page! I’m running the Virgin London Marathon 2016 for CLIC Sargent on the 24th of April 2016. Its a challenge that I've always thought would be beyond my capabilities but I've grown up, stopped smoking, moderated my drinking and believe it or not I can run a half marathon (just)! How hard can it be to double that distance? well I'm going to find out.
Why am I doing this? Many of you are parents and know that feeling of what its like to love and nurture a young baby that you have brought into the world. Imagine the heart break in finding out that that young person with a life time ahead of them is suddenly diagnosed with a potentially life ending disease. It must be the worst thing imaginable.
My decision to fund raise for CLIC Sargent is inspired by a young girl from Launceston. Kaitlin, who is now a happy, fun loving 8 year old is a close friend of my daughter Ruby. Kaitlin was diagnosed with Wilms Tumour at the age of 2. I know that CLIC were a huge support to Carla, Chris and Kaitlin during this exceptionally difficult time and because of this I will be dedicating my run to Kaitlin.
Every day around 10 children and young people hear the shocking news that they have cancer. At the moment CLIC Sargent can only help two out of three of them. With my commitment to run the marathon and with your support, they can reach even more.
My goal is to raise £1800. Just half of this would pay for a family to stay for a month in a ‘home from home’ close to where their child is receiving cancer treatment.
A heartfelt thank you to all who donate and support me through this challenge.
