Story

The Breakwater Swim is a 2.2 mile swim (that's miles, not pool miles) from Plymouth Breakwater to the shore.

I decided to do this about 12 weeks prior to the date, having swum a fairly sloppy mile in the pool, in breaststroke, which isn't a very good stroke for open water. So far the timings have broken down like this:

Time taken to learn how to swim crawl and progress to being able to swim 100m without stopping: 3 weeks

Time taken to move from 100m to one mile, in the pool: 6 weeks- I'm four weeks into this stage, following a pretty good programme, and swimming every weekday morning. I am confident that I'll hit the mile when I am due to.

This leaves me just a few weeks (I am deliberately not working out exactly how long it is) to turn that mile into 2.2 miles.

This is a huge personal challenge for me, and it's for a great cause, so any donations you can rustle up will be greatly appreciated!
