Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Once again Tomo and I have joined together to run the Reading Half Marathon and to raise money for CRY.
We are running to raise money in memory of my friend who tragically lost his life during a training session with Reading Swimming Club in 2003 aged just 17. Joe Korting was an amazing person, always smiling and who embraced life to the full. I really enjoyed training with Joe as our times were close and we could pace & race each other. I remember during the session thinking that Joe was swimming really well and that it was hard to keep up with him...a fact that shows how important the work that CRY carry out is.
CRY was founded in 1995 to raise awareness of conditions that can lead to Young Sudden Cardiac Death (YDCD) and Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS). These conditions can happen to any young person at and at any time, even if like Joe the young person is at the prime of their physical fitness. To help reduce the numbers of children and young adults that are affected by these conditions CRY run ECG Screening Clinics for those aged between 14 and 35 years old, this can help identify and prevent risks before they become life threatening. Please visit the following link to a video featuring David Walliams that gives more information on the screening program: http://www.c-r-y.org.uk/ecg.htm
The run is on Sunday 1st April so we have a couple of months to get into shape and attempt to beat our times from last year!!
Achieving a good time will be a challenge and one we shall be embracing fully on the day, please dig deep and help us raise us much money as possible for what really is an amazing Charity. Every little will help however big or small.
Charities pay a small fee for our service. Learn more about fees
