Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Two old codgers - retired Major Rob Cross (71) and his wife Margaret (68), have organised a trek - leading a group of trusting friends who have  agreed to go for a walk in the Himalayas!  The friends (who are still friends at the moment) are raising money for the Gurkha Welfare Trust.  As part of the trek we will be visiting two of the Trust's Welfare Centres, meeting pensioners and seeing community aid projects funded by the Trust.

Rob (who was on officer in the Queen’s Gurkha Engineers) and Margaret lived in Nepal for 3 years while Rob was serving in the army. Rob is Chairman of the North Midlands Branch of the Trust.

The sponsorship money goes towards providing Welfare pensions for about 8,000 retired Gurkhas and their widows in Nepal.  To put the sponsorship money into context, £500 provides a subsistence pension for one pensioner for a year.
