Virgin London Marathon 2012 · 22 April 2012 ·

We offer support to help people overcome any issue holding them back and provide this from those who know best - people who have been there themselves. Each generous pound raised for us goes towards helping people who have been locked out of society make positive changes to their lives.

Story

All done and dusted. An epic journey - six hours and twenty minutes of it! A triumpth for determination and bloody mindeness - and the huge amount of Lucazade gels they were handing out! Although I do feel somewhat humbled - our 71 year old runner, Jasmine, thrashed our time - so great respect to her too! My fellow sledger Leo, never grumbled or moaned about the considerable pain he was in and it was a great privalage to cross the finish line with a bit of a sprint! Thank you all for all your support. The crowd and fellow runners were amazing - made you proud to be British!

I feel extremely privileged to be the CEO of such an incredible organisation and one whose staff continuously go the extra mile every day. As a small token of my recognition for the fantastic work that they do, I have rather bravely (or stupidly) agreed to drag a sledge around this year’s London Marathon with two fellow 'sledgers' from PWC. Our personal struggle will be symbolic of St Giles’ wider struggle to break down society’s barriers and the unfounded misconceptions that still surround ex offenders.

It is also a further honour to be representing St Giles in the year of the Trust’s 50 Anniversary and to be one of the 3 ‘lucky’ sledgers chosen to fill the places very kindly donated by the Foundation of HRH Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, and new patron of St Giles for 2012. As such, your donations and support are of particular significance and will certainly go a long way to helping many vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the UK turn their lives around. Thank you once again for visiting my page and please give generously!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
