Story
Hi Everyone
A friend of mine's son Henry contracted Ecoli and a disease called HUS last October. The disease attacks our Kidneys,Stomach and Brain. Needless to say he is not in good shape.
Henry is 3 years old.
His mum and dad ( Tanya and Phil) are going through something I can't even begin to imagine.
Phil has completed a number of events already to raise money for the organisations that have supported and helped Henry, Phil,Tanya and Oliver( their youngest son). He has been an inspiration on what he has achieved as has everyone else that has given it a go. To date they have raised almost £30k.
Now its my turn. A number of us including my wife Charlie have committed to taking part in the Dawlish Sprint Triathlon in September this year. Its a 750m swim, a 21k bike ride and a 5k run. Separately not too bad, but all together , one after another on the same day, a very different challenge for me. Especially as 2 lengths of the local pool is proving tricky. But I am in training and so far I haven't passed out..... yet. Those of you that were ever fortunate to witness my illustrious Rugby career will know that running was never my thing.
So why am I doing this.
Well some of you may recall that a few years ago I was in a car accident that I shouldn't have survived. This year is the 30 year anniversary.......
Since that day I have gone on to live a life that has been full of all the events that any life should have. I have laughed, cried, partied ( a lot and still do!) travelled the world, had success and failures. I have done things in my life that have made my parents frown and proud!
I am a dad to three beautiful girls and fortunate to be married to my soul mate.
Luck was on my side on July 12th 1984.
Luck wasn't on Henry's side the day he became ill. We all hope and pray that he will get better soon.
So I am hoping to raise a few pounds to help The Childrens Trust(The Children's Trust is the UK's leading charity for children with acquired brain injury, multiple disabilities and complex health needs. www.thechildrenstrust.org.uk )who have been involved with Henrys care and support.
If you can donate anything it will be very much appreciated. I am hoping to raise £500 as a start, maybe more if possible.
I will give you updates on my training, mostly to let you know I haven't copped out and come the 28th September in Devon, I will attempt to be a triathlete...... makes me laugh just that bit on its own!!!!
Love to you all
Rob x
