Football to Amsterdam 2022 · 10 June 2022 to 12 June 2022 ·
Hello to all,
Firstly, thank you for taking the time to read my story.
Having shared my life for the past 15 years with my wife Rebecca, I got the honour to meet two very special people close to her heart and to be included into the families of two amazing, strong men; Rebeccas grandad Archie and her dad Tim. This year, sadly both Archie and Tim passed away.
Both these men fought the horrible battle of cancer during part of their life. Archie was Diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in 2005. Archie had stage 4 Prostate cancer and under went Intensive weeks of radiotherapy. Archie was one of the lucky ones who won his fight with cancer and was in remission until he sadly passed away September 2019.
Although Tim was not diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, he did unfortunately have to battle the fight of Bowel Cancer in December 2018 but very sadly passed away February 2019.
Both these men faced some very hard obstacles during their battle with cancer, however they both showed me fight, spirit and determination that can only inspire me and my family for the future. Hence the reason I’ve decided to bike the Football to Amsterdam in their memory.
As some of you may know my exercise has been very limited over the last 10yrs, the only time I run is to watch a wedge shot land on a elevated green.
I’ve always wanted to challenge myself to a long distance endurance style event and with this years sad news it has given me the determination to take up a challenge.
So to keep Archie’s and Tim’s memory alive I’ve decided to sign up to ‘Football to Amsterdam’ which is a charity bike ride to raise money to fund research to stop Prostate Cancer being a killer and to raise the awareness for Prostate Cancer
Football to Amsterdam is a chance to change the game for men everywhere so as part of the Forest 2 Amsterdam team I’ll be cycling on 4th June from the City Ground Nottingham to Sheffield.
5th-6th June from Hillsborough Sheffield to Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam.
Both Archie and Tim were passionate, loyal Nottingham Forest supporters who enjoyed going to watch their team home and away.
This event is my way of saying thank you to both Archie and Tim. They will always be in our thoughts.
The Charity is for Prostate Cancer. So please, if you can spare as much money or as little money as you can, please donate to my just giving page for the charity I am bike riding for called Football to Amsterdam.
Many thanks for taking the time to read my story.
