Rob's Fundraising Page

It's time I updated this page.
This morning, after a half marathon (2012), London to Cambridge bike ride (2013), Oxford to Cambridge bike ride (2014) and a Cambridge to Paris bike ride (2015) the running total stood at about £900. Not a brilliant sum, but hopefully helpful.
Today I managed to accidentally email 10,000 people in my company details of my fundraising page. It was purely by accident - although I suspect, some recipients of the email think otherwise.
However - incredibly, people just started making donations. The total raised from 2012 to this morning was £900. One inadvertent email has since generated around £2,300 of additional fundraising. It's still coming in as well.
I'm gobsmacked. I'm also rather humbled by the generosity of those I work with. To those that donated today - thank you, thank you, thank you. I've not had an easy time of it over the past few weeks, but today has given me a great boost.
I'll probably get hauled over the coals next week in the office, but to be honest - it was worth it.
I promise to keep this page updated with my progress on the preparation for the Battlefields ride - coincidentally, it is planned for September.
Thank you all once again
Rob
(Not the Matchbox 20 Rob either - to the person who suggested I sing at the Christmas Party, you'll probably want to make an additional donation to ensure that I don't)

It's silly season again and once again I'm doing something stupid for Cancer Research. Previously I've run a half marathon (never again), rode from London to Cambridge and last year from Oxford to Cambridge. This year I've decided to Cycle further afield - So shortly I will by cycling from Cambridge (well, Ickleton) to Paris. Once again I will be travelling with my good friend Peter.
Training has been patchy, but I've done what I can and I want to publically thank my wife Natania and my daughter Chloe for letting me indulge my passion.
Cancer is a horrible disease and can strike quickly or torment people (and those around them) for extended periods. I've had friends and relatives how have succumbed to this, and I'm using this ride to remember them, and hopefully raise a little money as well.
I'm also thinking about those who I know that are in, or shortly to be in treatment. Stay strong folks.
I'd also like to thank those people who have supported those afflicted by cancer in the past.
So in memory of Margaret, Kristina, Amy and Janet, and in support of those whose lives have been touched by cancer, once again I am donning the lycra and becoming a mamil.

Mischief Managed.
Right - The next fundraiser is imminent. This time I'm cycling with my good friend Peter from Oxford to Cambridge. At 90 miles This is quite a bit further than the last trip from London to Cambridge (around 58 miles). We've not set ourselves any deadlines to complete the route, but the first 50 miles have to be completed by 13:30.
I appear to be getting a little better at staying on the bike as well, verified when I cycled downhill through a large patch of diesel. Some other cyclist who went that way a little later were not so fortunate.
As ever I am doing this, partially to try to retain the vestiges of youth (fail) and fitness (jury is still out), but mainly in order to raise some money for Cancer Research which has already touched the lives of many of my friends.
Fingers crossed people, and if this trip goes well the next trip is next year - Cambridge to Paris.
Regards to All
Rob

Bike and I made it from London to Cambridge on Sunday. Good day was had by all, even if we did cycle past one of the Pub Stops without realising....
Next Challenge Oxford to Cambridge (90ish Miles.....)
--------
I have now fallen off the not so spangly new bike. New bike is however still in better condition than Elbow.......
Joking aside - I've been doing some practise rides, and this year feel a little more prepared than I did last year. Hopefully I can improve on my time from last year.

Well - Have spangly new bike, which (so far) I haven't fallen off of. The same cannot unfortunately be said about the new handlebar mounted camera, which ceased to be handlebar mounted on its first outing, making a bee-line for the nearest pile of leaves, where it will probably be found in 100 years or so, where the discoverers will probably go 'what on earth was he wearing'
---
Its that time of year again when I decide to do something nuts again. Once again I intend to do the London to Cambridge bike ride - hopefully without falling off this time.
Training starts tomorrow :-)

This page is created in order to raise money and remember my dear friends and family whom I've lost over the recent years. They have all been people who have gone before their time and are missed terribly.
I've been an inactive person for most of my life, and I've always enjoyed rude health. This seems terribly unjust, so this is my attempt to redress the balance.
Hopefully I'll lose a few pounds as well as raise a few pounds.
