Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Tihs is where any funds raised on 'International No Whinging Day' - 'Fun Friday', can be donated to help raise money in Candice's name.
Candice used to work at Warrington Youth Club, where I work a couple of evenings a week. She died last year on her 26th birthday, and its impossible to describe how sad that is, although I only met her once or twice myself I could tell from that and from what the people who were close to her have said that she was an awesome, friendly person. It was 'Guilliane Barre syndrome' that took Candice's life and that's a horribly debilitating illness. Since then her family have set up the 'Candice Roberts Foundation' and all money rasied on this page will go directly to that foundation. Whilst she was in hospital, stilll believing she would recover, Candice expressed her desire to raise awareness of this rare and horribly debilitating disease. So the foundation has been set up to carry out the work Candice would've undoubtedly done. Specifically they are funding medical training days on GBS, so that the syndrome becomes less of a mystery to the medical profession as a whole.
So in July 2011 I will be doing two walks, one along the Sandstone trail - 38miles, and one along the full length of the Bridgewater Canal - 39miles. They will take place on the 9th and 24th July respectively, hopefully will a few friends in tow!
On the 30th July I will attempt to play tennis for 11hours and 6minutes (in honour of the Isner v Mahut match at Wimbledon last year that last 11hours and 5minutes), at Grappenhall tennis club, against various different opponents doing a shift each.
We are also making that day at the tennis club a family fun day and open day for the Tennis club, with Grappenhall Tennis club and Warrington Youth Club combining to provide fun and refreshments for anybody who attends. Entry to the day will be free, with plenty of activities for people to join in on, including, face painting, badge making, football penalty shoot outs, tombola, having a go playing tennis against the tennis ball machine and having your serve speed registered by a 'speed gun'. The fun day will run from noon to approxiamtely 5pm.
The Tennis Club is on Stockton Lane, Grappenhall, Warrington, WA4 3HQ.
As always, anything is far better than nothing, no donation can possibly be too small.
Thanks
Rob Watson.
