Comrades Marathon 2019 · 9 June 2019
In June I'm fulfilling an ambition of 20 years to run the Comrades ultramarathon in South Africa.
This is the 94th running of a race that alternates directions between Durban and Pietermaritzburg. The race is run on the roads of KwaZulu-Natal Province, marked by "The Big Five" set of hills over 88km and this year is an 'up' year from Durban with 4,000ft of climbing.
My wife, Sue, is also undertaking her own challenge this year, sailing legs 1 and 6 in the Clipper Round The World race. She is on the Unicef boat and so I have linked my fund raising to this fantastic cause.
